Customised bodywork and interior

Body - The
Hurricane grey paint came about simply that I went into
the shop to
buy
spray paint for the inside door panels and ended up deciding
to get the outside paintwork sprayed the same colour. When
the
Fiesta was still red I removed the boot lock as the XR2
had an electronic boot release and so the boot lock was never
used. I also took off the handles and locks at one point
but the MOT guys made me put the handles back on! It was
a fairly simple mater to debadge at the same time.
I took out all the junk to do with the rear wiper including the water bottle which I reckon took a lot of weight off the back. Toping it off with clear front indicators which I think makes the front end much more tidy.
Not forgetting the functional air vent (details on the engine page)
Many have asked why I did not colour code the skirts and spoiler the same colour as the body but I happened to like the plastic skirts and bumbers. With a lot of 'back to black' spray on them they looked good in my opinion.
Interior -
in the photo it is fairly standard. I had mats with XR2 written
on them and the better upholstery which was black with thin
pin stripes, later they put horrid grey upholstery in the
XR2. The 12" Mountney wheel was just right for a small
car but the indicators no longer auto cancelled.
The car did have lots of ICE over time but at the end there was very little on-board and I got more and more obsessed with reducing weight. Although I took the spare wheel and jack out very early on. At the time of the crash I had removed the bank of switches on the right of the wheel, the center floor console had gone, the rear seat side panels had gone and the directional vents removed... overkill?
Future
plans - Where I would have gone if it was not for
the crash I am not sure. I was certainly thinking of removing
the back seat adding racing seats and racing harnesses and
stripping out the interior much more. I had already added some
carbon fibre and would have liked to add more.
I was also thinking of a roll bar and full metal cage but I think this would have been a mistake accident wise as the car would have been so much stronger. The rear being ripped off saved my life as it took the energy away from the impact, I think. A harder car would have meant a harder impact.
