XR2 Lowered 35mm with 15" alloysSuspension - Jamex sportline uprated & lowered 38mm springs and shocks, front strut brace. I did try Boge springs and shocks but was very unhappy with them, finding potholes crashing disasters and the whole thing was too springy. Also the car seemed to lean with them on. The Jamex kit solved every problem, very smooth, very hard but with no jawbreaking crashes of potholes. I chose 35mm as a standard, I know I could strut brace fitted to XR2have had it much lower, some XR2's scrape the ground, but I didn't want to loose the high performance possibility's of a correct ride height. The strut brace really tightened up the front end.

Wheels - Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 15in alloys were not really an ideal fit but it worked. You need 5mm spacers or they foul the running gear, I was looking for a better way to extend the track rather than using spacers. You need to cut the front wheel arches with 50 profile, 45 low profile would be better. The wheel nuts are a pig, you need extended blots with collars (these collars are an extra bit of washer on the bolt head as normal bolts would drop through!) the holes on the wheels are bigger than standard holes! Once they are on you need to fiddle with 'em loads to get them on the center of the wheel hub otherwise you get big vibration as they don't center onto the axle pin.

As for the size of the wheel the Cozy jobs are 7in wide which stretches the tyre onto the wheel giving a bit more clearance. I worked out from this that a set of 17in wheels will go on, all be it with 35 or 40 profile tyres! As long as the wheel is not more than 7in wide. However the breaks would need some serious upgrading in this case, performance breaks would be a must!

Breaks - These were standard, I had a set of vented racing disks and pads on at one point but ended up with a standard setup, it did need changing.

What was wrong with my XR2:
With the breaksI made the mistake of getting some cheap drums for the back and the good disks at the front did all the breaking on those big wheels. The car did not stop evenly and would spin on heavy breaking. The disks kept warping.
