Cheap recipes page
This page will grow over time, a set of very dodgy recipes all on a budget. Mostly to serve 1.

Things I cook that are cheap eats are bangers and mash, toad-in-the-hole and pancakes , which if you use 2 sausages are very cheap more potato and more yorkshire pudding make that both cheap and filling. Corn on the cob is very cheap also. I have a few more that I do which are very much the same sort of thing:

Poor Man's Curry

In India there is nothing cheaper than a curry, in England they are well expensive, even the stuff from Tesco. This is the cheapest budget curry on the planet and very filling, if a little disgusting. With a cheap tin of beans this must be one of the cheapest meals. Your mouth will burn and you won't be able to taste the boring beans and rice, just like real curry!

Ingredient:
1 Tin Beaked Beans
1 Portion Long Grain Rice
Coarse Ground Black Pepper to taste (or to hide the taste, you decide)

Method: cook the rice, cook the beans, serve and cover with a lot of pepper!

Toad in the hole

Very simple and cheap, using 2 sausages makes it very cheap indeed.

Ingredient:
3 tablespoons plain flour
1/4 pint milk
1 egg
2 sausages

Method: put the egg and milk in a bowl and beat in the flour, cook sausages for 10 minutes at 220c then add batter and cook for a futher 20 mins.

Curry and squeak

Another funny curry idea of mine. The veggies fill you up with not having to use much meat or fish and the curry powder hides how boring it tastes.

Ingredient:
Quite a bit of frozen mixed veg (carrot, sweet corn etc.)
Fresh chopped onion.
Curry powder.
Black pepper.
Meat or fish (burger or fish finger, whatever you like. Not too much is needed.

Method:
Put veg and onion in big frying pan and cook (use olive oil or sunflower oil), sprinkle curry powder and pepper over. Cook the meat or fish at the same time. When cooked chop up meat or fish small and mix in.
